Aching, heavy or tired Legs? It could indicate Varicose Veins or Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD):

Heavy legs can indicate that they are subject to heavy loads.

After a long period of sitting or standing, you might prefer to put your feet up and rest your legs in the evening. Your legs can also feel heavy after long journeys.

Heavy legs and aching in the evenings can mean that the blood is pooling in the legs and not getting back up to the heart efficiently.  This is known as venous reflux disease, the underlying cause of varicose veins.  This condition is common and easily treated in our office setting.

Leg pain with activities such as walking can indicate there is not enough oxygenated blood reaching the leg muscles. This is due to PAD.

If you notice swelling in the evenings or have pain in your legs, you should consult a vascular specialist immediately.
